Artist Statement
Choe integrates her background in Psychology with an expressive illustration style. Her subjects often include women, surrealistic environments and abstracted objects. Choe uses various analogue painting media including oil, acrylic, gouache and watercolour; she also combines dry media for texture and mark making. The unnatural and invented scenes that match disparate metaphoric elements are the usual method that Choe uses to deliver connotative and symbolic meanings in both her poetry and illustrations.
